The monthly test (Jason 85) Jason

This Wednesday and Thursday, I had to face the monthly test. Though we had five days to prepare it, I still didn’t know whether I could finish my review.

In the long holiday, I spent almost ten hours on my math. I believed that I can improve my math by that. But I could review neither math nor other subjects in time at all.

Nevertheless, I still did my test against my will.

Throughout the test, I found that Math and Chinese were not too hard. Unfortunately, I only got 70 in my history. The questions were so flexible(unpredictable) that my classmates and I couldn’t get a high grade.

Basically, I didn’t think I did my best on my English and Chemistry. Therefore, I regretted very much that I haven’t finished the review in these subjects.

Perhaps, I haven't done my best because I thought my classmates were better than I. Above all, Failure is the mother of success. So, I have to take heart from the test!

The Jazz Night

This Wednesday I just went to a flute concert, performed by Emmanuel Pahud, my favorite flutist, and Jacky Terrasson Jazz Trio, with my sister. It was the third time I saw him in person. I was really excited because the last time I saw him was two years ago, and I just said “merci beaucoup” to him, which means thank you very much.

As the concert began, we welcomed the musicians by giving them a big hand. The first song I remember was Voliere by Saint-Saens. They connected each song by making some extra melodies. That was new for me as well as my sister. During the whole concert, I could hardly move my sight away from Pahud’s hands – his fingering was so fast that I had no words to describe it. The tone of his instrument was also perfect which my teacher said to me, “It is as pure as the Japanese food!” I absolutely admire him and I wish I could be as terrific as he.

The other three musicians were fantastic as well. Jacky Terrasson, the pianist, were so happy and passionate that I saw him smile when he was playing the piano. He even stood up, using the other two ways to make a different form! Gerald Cleaver, playing jazz drums, had a great skill of playing drums. I wondered if he was looking at me or Pahud when he was performing. Both my teacher and I think that his drum voice was a bit too loud. Sean Smith was so cool that he used his fingers to play the double bass. He looked delightedy then.

As the performance finished, every audience was clapping for them, applauding for at least three minutes until they gave us an encore piece – Flight of Bumble Bees as the end of this wonderful night.

“Wait, don’t forget their autograph!”

My sister and I ran to the entrance No.5 and waited for them. Half an hour later, they FINALLY appeared. For helping my teacher and her friend get their autograph, we had to line up two times. I was bit excited and nervous about what I should say. The first time I greeted three of them in English; most importantly, I saluted Emmanuel Pahud in French, and so did he! I was happy then. The second time I went in, the drum player recognized me, but he still signed for me gladly. The most unbelievable and unforgettable thing happened – I asked Pahud in French if he could take a picture with me , and he said YES. What a joyful present to me! I have been indescribable blissful and contented since I stood beside him!

Despite the fact that I couldn’t totally understand what he responded to me, I am still pleased. I didn’t imagine that I could have this day. No doubt, it will always be my best experience ever in my lifetime. I believe the next time I see him, my French will improve, and I can talk to him more!

My weekly diary

I learned some phrases:

“A wolf in sheep’s clothing”. You must know the origin of the phrase is the Aesop’s fable. It can describe a person who has a bad idea or a bad plan to somebody.

“I smell a rat”. Rat is surely a big mouse. That means you feel something wrong, something bad will happen, or you find out the plot.

“Action speaks louder than words”. My teacher, my mom, and many elders usually tell me so. My mom often criticizes the politician that they were never like that. They always tell the civil how excellent and how strong they are, but the true is always different from what they said.

Also, I want to tell you about my school club. I joined a club that I have never heard it before, it’s called kick-volleyball club. You may have seen shuttlecock, and the shuttlecock is like it. But the bottom of shuttlecock is a soft ball . Not a small, heavy magnet. I describe it as “tennis playing foot”. Because the rule of the game is just like the tennisBut you have to play it with your inside of foot. Sounds interesting, right?

I like sport. Lately I played the volleyball, because we’ll have competition in a few days later. I hope we can have great a grade.^_______^

About the first important exam throughout my senior life

Kevin Huang 95.10.14

The two days after the Double Tenth day, we took our sectional exam for the first time. Because of the Moon Festival and the Double Tenth Day, we fortunately had a five-day holiday for us to review the courses. I almost didn’t review the subjects, especially for history; I didn’t bring my history textbook back home until the holiday. So in the five days, doubtless, I must have to work hard to prepare it…… And what’s the result? Hmm……

Now, I know my grades of some subjects. Of them, I got the poorest score in math. Square root of my score, and then times ten equal 70. In order not to flunk my math at the end of my semester, I have to concentrate on my math next time.

I think it's difficult to get scores over 80 in senior high school, but in my class, there is a girl who did it. It's amazing that she got 87 in physics, 90 in Chinese, 92 in English, 97 in chemistry, and 67 in math(She only didn't do well in math).

The average score in physics in our class in about 40, but she got 87! She said she read 5 hours every weekday, and 9 hours every weekend. No wonder she even won over all the boys in class. Many people said that the math and science ability of boys are usually better than girls, but she proved that it isn't always correct, it just depends on how much time you spend on preparing the test.

This Friday, we have a student-body election campaign. Every class needed to choose one person who has a kind personality and a humble heart and good grades to join, and every candidate needed to go on the stage to introduce him(her)self.

everyone can use any means to introduce, of course, there were few people who imitated teachers. Especially the life-science teacher. It is a tradition, so every year student in my school try hard to continue this custom. It was so funny because the life-science teacher is special and easy to imitate.

There were also few people dancing. The dancing club is the best-known club in our school, one of the member danced like an octopus. I enjoy the show so much, and I have decided the student I want to vote for .

Finally, We had a volleyball competition on Wednesday. We had only 8 girls, and 2 of us got injured, so.......the other 6 girls had to join. However. we lost. But it was okay, to me, I think it was not so much a competition as a game!
